If we don&#8217;t feel like cooking or have a long day at work, we order pizza or some other take out meal. Lunch hours don&#8217;t give us much time for nourishment. Your taste buds may be content momentarily but your digestive system probably isn&#8217;t too happy. There&#8217;s nothing wrong with fast food once in awhile but unfortunately for some people it becomes a way of life.</p>
<p>We are seeing more obesity in children at younger ages. The rise in childhood obesity has been steadily climbing in recent years. Children eat more fast food meals as well as junk food for snacks. It seems as if children don&#8217;t get much exercise these days either. They spend hours in front of the television playing video games, talking on the phone or spending time on the computer. They don&#8217;t spend nearly as much time outside running and playing physical games or sports as children did in the past. This makes healthy eating that much more important. Lack of exercise and fast food feeding are definitely not a healthy combination.</p>
<p>You can break the fast food habit without eliminating fast food from your family&#8217;s diet entirely. Limit fast food. If you don&#8217;t have time to cook dinner every night, cook when you have time and freeze meals for use when you can&#8217;t be home or are too busy to prepare a meal. When shopping for groceries buy more fresh fruit and healthy snacks. Limit the amount of potato chips and cookies you purchase. Most adults as well as children love snacks such as chips but we also tend to gorge ourselves on these items.</p>
<p>We can set good eating habits for our children by practicing proper nutrition ourselves. Parents can become so concerned with making sure their children are eating enough that nutrient rich food may get overshadowed by empty calories. Such an oversight is not intentional but more likely the result of hectic lifestyles, demanding work schedules and society in general. In order to live up to today&#8217;s standards both financially and societal, many people have become workaholics out of necessity. In a majority of families both parents work full-time jobs and juggle a variety of household chores. Conveniences that are time saving and make life easier are welcomed.</p>

Children need more than burgers, fries and pizza and snacks don&#8217;t always have to mean cookies and chips. Make your child&#8217;s meal a well-rounded eating experience. Try to gradually introduce your child to new foods by using different recipes and buying food items you usually don&#8217;t purchase. Many children are not eager to try new foods and will insist that they don&#8217;t like certain foods although they&#8217;ve never tried them. Be creative; create your own recipes. Your kids will be amazed at what you can come up with and so will you. The kids may have some ideas of their own too. Eat healthy and have some fun doing it.</p>
<p>When you&#8217;re ready to get out of the kitchen, spend some time outdoors and take the kids with you. There are plenty of outdoor activities for every season of the year. They might actually enjoying spending some time away from the television and video games.</p>

<p>However I have been able to include a fair amount of information below about various herbs and spices which are known to particularly help to speed up weight loss, and that is also in addition to their excellent overall health benefits by the way. </p>
<p>You should find that you will be able to purchase these herbs from any good Herbalist supplier. </p>
<p>Garcinia: (Garcinia cambogia) is a herb which is sold primarily for enhancing weight loss and boosting the amount of lean muscle. This is also known as hila or brindell berry. One of the major benfits of Garcinia is that it acts as an appetite suppressant and stops the body from storing fat. </p>
<p>Pysillium: (Plantago spp.) This cheeky little herb has quite a few health benefits. <p>These are just a few of the herbs you can use in cooking, but do remember that there are many many more, and the benefits in using them frequently can be quite remarkable. </p>
<p>You will realize of course that when using them as part of any dish to use them sparingly, as to add too much would just spoil the meal. </p>

Increase the weight slowly. Beginners usually start with 8-12 repetitions done to about 70-80% maximal effort. If you become too sore to lift the next workout you need to back off. <br /> One of the greatest secrets to fitness success is having good social support so go out and find some workout buddies. Support can come from your spouse, children, friends, a personal trainer, a neighbor or a fellow gym memmber. People get better results when they have to respond to someone so don&#8217;t try to go it alone.<br /> Nutrition is as important as your exercise program for fat loss. Beginners usually initially lose fat from better nutrition, not from the exercise. If you don&#8217;t improve your nutrition, even the greatest fitness program in the world won&#8217;t help you reach your fat loss goals. Some nutrition basics include:</p>
<p>* Eat 6-8 smaller meals a day. Include a lean protein source, fresh fruits and vegetables and healthy fat sources with each meal. Keep breads and pastas to a minimum. Eating 6-8 meals a day helps regulate insulin which is a fat storage hormone as does protein, the fiber in fruits and vegetables and fats.</p>
<p>* Don&#8217;t go on low calorie diets. While you may lose weight at the start, eventually your metabolic rate will drop and you will stop losing weight.</p>
<p>* Eat healthy fatty acids such as omega-3&#8217;s and alpha lipoic acid. Both have been shown to aid in weight loss.</p>
<p>* Avoid drinking any calories in beverages. You&#8217;re best bet is green tea and water.<br /> As you can see the above guidelines are not intimidating or complicated. Anyone can follow them. Like I said it just take one thing on your part: a little self discipline.

<p>But what should be your long-term goal? And what short-term goals should you set to help you get there? You have a better chance of attaining your goals if you make sure that the weight loss plans that you will use are sensible and reasonable right at the beginning.</p>
<p>Here are some guidelines from the experts in choosing weight loss plans and goals.</p>
<p>1. Be realistic</p>
<p>Most peoples long-term weight loss plans are more ambitious than they have to be.</p>
<p>For example, if you weigh 170 pounds and your long-term plan is to weigh 120, even if you have not weighed 120 since you were 16 and now you are 45, that is not a realistic weight loss goal.</p>
<p>Your body mass index or BMI is a good indicator of whether or not you need to shed of pounds. The ideal BMI range, according to the national Institutes of Health, is between 19 and 24.9. If your BMI is between 25 and 29.9, you are considered overweight. Any number above 30 is in the obesity range.</p>
<p>From this point of view, you will need a sensible weight loss plan that will correspond to the required BMI based on your height, because this is the primary factor that will affect your BMI.</p>
<p>2. Set appropriate objectives</p>
<p>Using a weight loss plan just for vanity sake is psychologically less helpful than losing weight to improve health.</p>
<p>You have made a big step forward if you decide to undergo a weight loss plan that includes exercise and eating right so that you will feel better and have more energy to do something positive in your life.</p>
<p>3. Focus on doing, not losing</p>
<p>Rather than saying that you are going to lose a pound this week, say how much you are going to exercise this week. This would definitely make up of a sensible weight loss plan.</p>

<p>4. Build bit by bit</p>

The first key to success is the belief that you can succeed &#8211; acceptance that you could indeed be thinner. Write down why you want to be thinner e.g. I want to have the energy to keep up with my four year old. Take time to visualise what it will be like when you&#8217;ve reached your weight loss goal. Put a copy of your reason to be thinner wher you can use it to remind yourself of why you&#8217;re doing this. 2. Set your goal. Your weight-loss goal should be specific for instance &#8211; I will lose 20 lbs in 12 weeks. Write down your goal and keep it with your reason to lose weight. I would suggest that you review this goal, and your progress towards it at least weekly. 3. Regular exercise program. I believe that any weight-loss program is incomplete without a sound exercise program, one that includes both cardiovascular and resistance training. There are articles on this web site that will help you start and keep your exercise program interesting. My major successes have come when I have combined both a resistance training program with a cardiovascular program. 4. Make good nutrition a part of your life. As you increase your activity level then you should begin taking a good quality multivitamin particularly one that has anti-oxidants. Articles that describe the nutrition component can be found on this web page. 5. Measure your progress on a regular basis. I suggest weekly weigh-ins and measurement sessions. It is important to monitor your progress towards your goal. This allows you to know whether your exercise and nutrition program is working or whether you need to modify the strategy you&#8217;re following. 6. Make Changes as Necessary. If you find that you&#8217;ve hit a plateau in your weight-loss, then it&#8217;s time to make some changes. Things to try are to change your cardio program, if you&#8217;ve been using the exercise bike try running or rowing. Change up your resistance program. Your body adapts to the exercises you&#8217;re doing so it&#8217;s good to change every four weeks. Take a long hard look at your nutrition program. Are you cheating? The only person you&#8217;re cheating is yourself. I find that I lose more weight when I restrict the amount of pasta that I eat. I generally replace the pasta with more protein and fibrous carbs. 7. Persist Perhaps the hardest part of any program is keeping it up. Hopefully the diet and nutrition programs will become an integrated part of your lifestyle and not something that has to kept up. Review your goal and your reason for wanting to lose weight regularly.

<p>To maintain your current weight, the scale needs to be balanced. If you eat more calories than your body needs, you tip the scale. These extra calories are stored as fat &#8212; on your hips, butt, stomach, chest, face, etc., etc. etc. (feel free to add your personal trouble spot here).</p>
<p>To loose weight, you want to tip the scale in the other direction, so that there is a calorie deficit, not a calorie surplus. To lose one pound of body fat, you have to burn (or not eat) 3500 calories. </p>
<p>There are three ways to lose weight: </p>
<p>1) Increase your metabolism. One way to do this is to gain lean muscle (through strength training). For every pound of muscle you gain, your body burns 50 more calories a day. This means that with more muscle you can eat the same amount and still lose some weight.</p>
<p>2) Eat less. To lose one pound of fat a week, you need to cut 500 calories a day from your diet. With 1000 fewer calories a day you will lose two pounds a week. This may sound like a lot of calories. It&#8217;s important to know that it is.</p>
<p>3) Workout more. If you just exercise, you would have to walk on a treadmill at 4 MPH for 1.5 hours a day, seven days a week, to lose two pounds of fat a week. </p>
<p>The perfect way to lose weight is to do all three.</p>
<p>If you increase your metabolism, eat less, and workout more, you will lose weight. It will be easier and less painful than drastically cutting back on your calories or becoming a slave to the treadmill.

Unless we force ourselves to do sports most of us could live their lives without ever getting out of their chairs. We use elevators to get to our apartments or offices and cars to get from point A to point B. Walking and running are consider a sport or a hobby and are no longer means to get to our destination. The results are evident: putting those extra pounds on or just obesity. In this article we will give some simple rules to follow that can help in losing those extra pounds and keeping your body healthier.</p>

The goal is to provide better understanding of why we grow fat and how the body can get rid of the extra pounds. Please consult with your physician before making any extreme changes to your diet or sport regime.</p>
<p>So why do we add fat? The simple answer is that our body is genetically programmed to build energy reserves for bad times. Every day we consume energy â calories â and use energy. If we consume more than we use the body will convert the extra energy to fat which is the bodyâs way of reserving this energy for times when itâs needed. In the same manner when we consume less energy than we use each day the body will have to get the missing energy from its reserves by burning fat.</p>
<p>In order to keep it simple we have ignored one important fact: the body has a choice when getting that extra energy: it can either use fat or muscle mass. Our genetic program always prefers to reserve fat for the worse times so if our body needs to get extra energy it will always prefer using muscles mass than using fat. You might have noticed people that go on extreme diets and in return seem to lose their muscle mass but keep their fat on â mostly around the waistline â this is exactly the reason why. The only way to force the body to use fat instead of muscle mass is by using the muscles and the way to use the muscles is to exercise. When we exercise and use our muscles the body program will assume that the muscles are needed for our daily survival and thus can not be compromised. In return the body will not use muscle mass as energy â in fact the opposite is true the body will build extra muscle mass. In order to get the extra energy needed the body will use fat.</p>
<p>So to conclude our discussion so far we can see that there are two facts we must understand: One is that the body builds fat when we consume more energy than we use and uses fat or muscle mass when we consume less energy than we use. The other is that in order to make sure that body uses fat and not muscle mass for extra energy we must exercise. Taking these two facts into account you can see that any diet will consist of both exercising and making sure we consume less calories than we use. If we exercise but at the same time consume too many calories the body will still have extra energy and will convert it to fat.</p>
<p>It is also important to make sure that our body gets the right nutrition and not just the right amount of calories. Make sure that your diet includes vegetables low fat meats such as fish and poultry and proteins from sources such as eggs and milk. Eat in moderation and use common sense you do not need to read a book to know that deep fried food is not good for you and that a chicken salad is better than a cheeseburger. Most of us can make a good judgment of what food is good for us but many of us just choose to ignore that judgment. </p>
<p>To conclude in order to shed those extra pounds off and to keep a proportionate body and muscle mass remember to exercise regularity eat in moderation and try to avoid the bad food and most importantly consume less calories than you use every day.
